So this holiday’s Boxing Day was quite eventful to say the least.  Even though the deals weren’t as good as previous years (they seem to get worst and worst each year), there were still lineups all over the place.

The original plan was to first stop by Best Buy to enter the $500 draw and to buy a large TV, then stop by HMV to pick up the $10 ipod headphones and the $20 Modern Warfare 2 video game.

After a small dispute regarding which Best Buy location would be the best, crazyC forcibly made to go to the location of his choice.

We arrived at Best Buy at 5:40, just in time to enter the $500 draw given to all the people who lines up before 5:45.

Even though it was raining, the lineup still wrapped around the entire building. I had a feeling I was going to win the $500, but I guess my feelings betrayed me since I only walked away a with losing raffle ticket. The plan was to wait in the car until the store opened, then we rush in, pick up my 58′ TV, then head towards HMV. Little did we know that Best Buy was only letting 30 people in at a time. 20 minutes after the store opened, only a quarter of the line moved so we got fed up and went to Future Shop instead.

Future Shop must have super crappy deals because it was almost EMPTY when we got there. CrazyC picked up a Sony laptop since he wanted to look like a baller, we then headed straight to HMV.

Even though we got to HMV 15 minutes before it opened, there was already a line up! Who lines up in a mall for HMV? (Apparently, we do) After getting yelled at by the security guard for taking pictures of the line up, we were ready to rush in to pick up our games and headphones.

Since crazyC was in front of me, I expected him to grab all the items for us. The entire lineup rushed towards the shelf of where all the discounted items were and crazyC just casually walked by in hopes that the game and headphones would magically appear in front of him. I guess I don’t have to say, we walked out of HMV empty handed.

Since I wasn’t able to get a TV or the game, I wanted to head to Staples in hopes of buying a netbook. Surprise, surprise! Another lineup greeted me there and in the rain for 15 minutes I waited! As least I was able to walk out with the netbook, but after opening it at home, it looked like a refurbished unit so to the return bin it goes.

The last event was to help crazyC’s parents pick out a LED TV which was for sale at Audio Video 2001.  It turns out that we missed the last unit by a few minutes so another failure there.

After all that, I would have to rate 2009’s Boxing Day to be an epic failure.  Hope next year’s will be better (with better deals)!

Hope everyone had a fun and enjoyable Christmas and New Years! I certainly had fun spending more money then I can afford, thank god for return policies!

CrazyC gave me a few “interesting” items this year, here’s all of them in one shot…

The cream whipper was something I wanted after seeing various foam recipes in my cookbook. I guess crazyC stumbled upon this by coincidence because I never mentioned it to him before. Flavored foam is a food trend that started in the early 90’s and I can’t wait to use it in my desserts to make it more unique. Nice find crazyC, now if it was only 1 pint instead of just 1/2 pint…

Second item was the v-neck t-shirt from Energie that cost a whopping $70. He must taken my heavage post seriously because it’s the exact same shirt worn in the last picture.

Okay… I can’t wear a deep v-neck if my life depended on it, it looked very barf inducing when I tried it on so I exchanged it for a pair of jeans instead. CrazyC claimed that he can pull off the t-shirt as well as the model in the picture so I will let you guys be the judge.

Yeah… I would say that’s pretty epic failing.

And the last gift is the funniest of all. It’s a green ornament that contains a small LCD screen inside.  CrazyC proceeded to load a set of pictures which he thought would be appropriate for me.  Looks like he must of confused his own sexuality with mine because it was filled with pictures of naked men. There’s the entire set:

Yes, crazyC really did put 2 pictures of himself in there and they stick out like a sore thumb! It’s so ridiculous but it makes for a great laugh (Update: I guess crazyC is too embarrassed about showing off his body, he removed the picture).  Even though there are many silly things in these presents, I have to give him a 10/10 for effort.

Future Shop

I have been waiting for a cheap netbook with good keyboard for web browsing and light applications..

Heard these headphones have very good sounds. Wasn’t paying any attention to them at $300+, but now at $150, it’s definitely worth a look.

Always wanted to mount my GPS on my dash instead of the windshield, although there are cheaper versions online, I can easily return this one if I don’t like it.

My old card reader broke, plus I like the black and red color on this one.

I have been eyeing this camera since its release. Although this package can be found at Aden’s Camera for the same price, they don’t have a return policy and Future Shop does.

Who couldn’t use a HD camcorder to record naughty videos?

Every year before Boxing Day, I always claim “I need a 60′ HD TV!”. Maybe this year will be it, $1800 for a 58′ that has a very good image quality, super tempting!

I have been so busy that there was no time to post! 14 hours work day for the past 2 weeks is no fun!  Any whooo… this Halloween seems to be a super quite one.  I guess swine flu and rainy weather deterred kids from trick or treating.  My house only had 10-12 kids come by meanwhile crazyDiva had none!

It doesn’t mean that it was not fun… we did our annual pumpkin carving to enjoy the spooky day.  CrazyChiquita and I carved 2 pumpkins, one from a template and one hand drawn.  Our final decision was an Obama pumpkin made from template and a hand drawn Russell pumpkin from the Pixar movie “UP”.  Even though my hand drawing of Russell was MANY MANY times better then crazyChiquita’s, I decided to allow her drawing to be used since I am such a gentleman.

Happy Mid Autumn Festival, everyone!  Hope you’re all spending some quality time with your loved ones and enjoying the moonlight.  Unfortunately, it is going to shower in Toronto, so not sure if we will see the full moon tonight.

My daddy came to visit and brought us some Wing Wah mooncakes!!  They are so much better than the cheap ones we got from T&T.  He got us the red bean filled mooncakes with double yolks…mmm…yumm…

I came across some cool Halloween decorations at Pier 1 Imports. They are some cute and freaky ornaments to hang on a Halloween tree. Although the Halloween tree is ugly and overpriced, these ornaments are cute and reasonably priced.

The pictures don’t do it justice. They actually look a lot nicer in the store. They are made of wood and are fairly intricate. At $4.95 each, I am debating whether I should pick up the Frankenstein one…

For Luminato’s closing weekend special event Cirque du Soleil will be performing 30 mintue shows at the Harbourfront Centre.  

This week CrazyChiquita was able to make her way down to the harbourfront centre with her students to make clay masks and prints and was able to see the Cirque du Soleil practicing for the 30 min free show starting June 12-14.  CrazyChiquita will be heading down to watch the event this weekend.

Crazy Chiquita has gone from free coffee to 31 cent ice cream! On Wednesday, April 29th from 5pm to 10pm Baskin Robbins is selling ice cream for 31 cents. They will be supporting the local firefighters (who wouldn’t want to support the sexy firefighters?).

CrazyChiquita remember Baskin Robbins used to give out free ice cream once a year but she thinks it’s great idea to support a cause. The only concern is that there will be a lot of people. When CrazyChiquita used to go during the free ice cream days there were massive line ups and there was no time limit of 5-10pm.

On another note CrazyPyxo would be super duper happy to hear that Baskiin Robbins has started to sell Sof Serve Ice cream and “it’s a steal” “it’s a deal!”. It’s only 98 cents until May 24th! CrazyChiquita has to try it to compare with DQ and McDonalds! Time for CrazyPyxo and CrazyChiquita to go on a soft serve ice cream run!

McDonalds is trying to salvage their customers by offering free coffee until May 1st. I heard this on the radio this morning and I think it’s only during breakfast hours. During this time of recession many Starbucks in Canada are closing down as well as a decline in sales for Tim Hortons. I guess all I can say is that take advantage of this free stuff! Although i don’t think I will be running to McDonalds for a cup of coffee in the morning.

You may spot CrazyChiquita in Starbucks tomorrow with her Sakura Tumbler that was purchased in Japan =) She has a long day with meetings before school and after school tomorrow and may need a dose of caffeine.
