Taste of Danforth is on again!  For those who don’t know, the Taste of Danforth is…

showcasing the best of Hellenic food, culture, and music our multicultural city has to offer – from souvlaki to mezes, authentic Greek music to interactive children’s games! Come enjoy the culture that makes the Danforth a year round destination

The taste of Danforth is where crazyChiquita and I first met two years ago, but since she was on a flight from Japan to Toronto, she had to miss out this year.  It’s pretty much the same each year but there’s so much food available, there’s no way you can try them all with just one visit.

No Doubt 2009 Concert Review

After I kept chanting “Hey baby Hey baby Hey!” for the past week, the No Doubt concert has finally arrived to Toronto. Since I ordered the tickets late, only the $100 “limited view” seats were left. It was defined “limited view” because it was facing directly to the side of the stage. Despite that fact, I still had an excellent view and was able to clearly see Gwen Stefani and her amazing abs.

CrazyChiquita has been waiting for Coldstone Creamery to come to Toronto after standing in line for 40 minutes in Japan to create her own flavorful ice cream.

The store

The store

Slab Ice creamery recently opened in Thornhill right across from the Promenade. They use the same concept as Coldstone Creamery without the chanting and singing. You can create your own ice cream by choosing a flavor, and many toppings (CrazyChiquita later learned that you can have more than 1 flavor of ice cream!). The ice cream and toppings are placed on a cold marble stone and mixed infront of your eyes!

Foie Gras Feast at Au Pied de Cochon, Montreal

Last night I might have had the most foie gras that I’ve ever eaten in one sitting. Au Pied de Cochon is certainly one of the top restaurants in Montreal! Casual setting, helpful and friendly staff, reasonable prices, and some amazing dishes are certainly worth a bit of a wait or a late reservation in our case.

Definitely try the foie gras poutine ($23). With a big slab of seared foie gras, rich gravy and super yummy cheese curds, this dish will not disappoint. The only complaint might be that there wasn’t enough fries for all that good gravy!

crazyDiva’s Asian Adventures day 14 to day 20 – Kansai Japan

I love Kansai Japan. I don’t think you can have a bad experience when travelling there. The people there are so nice and friendly, not like in Tokyo where the people don’t care as much and can come off as fake. My parents and I spent 7 days/6 nights in Osaka and Kyoto all on SPG hotel points. I must give props to SPG because being a Platinum member, they will upgrade you every time. They gave us a suite in Kyoto, so we had 4 beds!! Staying in a hotel room with 3 people did not feel squished at all.

PART ONE

What better way to celebrate the start of Spring then to visit the beautiful scenery at Niagara on the Lake! CrazyChiquita and our friends (Colin, Janice and Alan) headed out for a “Ice Wine” tour to experience what Niagara has to offer. The entire day was thoughtfully planned out by Janice, many thanks to her!

We arrived in Korea super early in the morning. I can’t believe there is a red-eye flight to Korea even though it’s only 3 hours away from HK. I guess that’s what you get when you buy a $3400 HKD package for 4 days/3 nights of hotel + flight. We stayed at the Ramada Hotel in the Gangnam area because we couldn’t book one of the nicer hotels near Jongno-gu and the cheaper hotels are crap. The Ramada is kind of far from the downtown area, about 40 minutes away by subway, but the rooms are pretty nice.

The Most Races Show on Earth Review – 2009

The Most Races Show On Earth (MRSOE) has become a yearly tradition for me and my friend Jason. We started to attend 2 years ago so this year would be our 3rd MRSOE show.

Here’s the official description:

The Most RACES Show On Earth! is a culture-building endeavor designed to bring the funniest multicultural comedians together to celebrate diversity and to help fight racism through laughter. By bringing cultures together, this show aims to promote cultural understanding and awareness within our communities.

I would have to say this year was the best show so far. They comedians were a lot funnier and there were no major screw ups (unlike last year where one comedian was so offensive the audience just stared at her in disgust). Out of the 10 comedians who were performing, 2 of them really stood out. The very first and last act.

Sushi Kaji Restaurant Review #2 – Toronto

If you are looking for the best sushi restaurant in Toronto, Sushi Kaji is often mentioned as the top pick. I first found Kaji during my search for crazyC’s birthday dinner last year. CrazyDiva already wrote a review on her experience and is a regular customer since it’s her favorite Japanese restaurant. That leaves crazyChiquita the only crazy member with the absence of the Kaji-experience. No worries, crazyPyxo, being the gentleman that he is, decided to treat crazyChiquita (for her birthday) to one night of Kaji.
