Jimmy Choo for H&M – Not so epic fail

Today was the highly anticipated release of the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection in selected stores worldwide.  From our experiences in the last Comme des Garcons for H&M event, I knew that this would be at least 10x crazier than that one.  I even contemplated staying in Montreal this weekend with the hopes that there might be less people lining up than there would be in Toronto.  Luckily, my friend Ellen and her sister Nancy were crazy enough to go line up with me at the Bloor St. location at 6 o’clock in the morning, so I was not alone!  When we got to Bloor, there were already at least 140 people in line.  They were giving out wristbands to the first 160 people so our hopes were high at this point.

This is what it looked like at around 7am.  The line spanned around the corner of Scotia Bank and down the street.

As the morning progressed, the line grew thicker in front and behind us.  I guess people were saving spots for their friends as well.  Nancy went up to the front and asked the girl who was first in line, and apparently she started waiting in line at 5:30pm the day before!  That’s what I call hardcore!

At around 8:30-9:00am, they started handing out the 160 wristbands.  To our disappointment, we were short by around 10 people!  That means we wouldn’t be able to get into the exclusive shoes, handbags and accessories section until 12pm.  It was too late to turn back at this point, so we decided to just wait till the store opening at 10am to see if we can grab any of the clothing.  The window display was very tempting.  I wanted everything in there, but we were prepared to go home empty-handed.

The store finally opened right at 10am, and everyone literally dashed into the store!  Hands were grabbing at all the clothing on the hangers and the menswear and men’s shoes were gone in seconds!  Ellen was able to grab some boots, a blazer and some scarves.  I finally ended up with this scarf for $59.95.

Thankfully, Ellen knew a friend in line ahead of us who did get a wristband.  Pam was so nice and she looked out for us girls, so when her turn came to visit the exclusive shoes, handbags and accessories section, she grabbed us a few items.  Unfortunately, there was nothing left that I really wanted, and the one pair of flats that she got did not fit me, so I ended up with this cheetah print bag for $149.99.  What do you think?  Should I keep this or sell it on eBay??

Good thing Ellen and Nancy were able to get some items that they wanted, so it wasn’t an epic fail after all!  Yay!

It’s Sesame Street’s 40th anniversary and Google is helping to celebrate by creating a whole series of doodles on their website.  I love Google doodles.  Have you been able to catch all of them?  The only ones I saw were these.  You can see all of them here.

In crazyC’s search for perverted material, he found the following clip on youtube of these cute Korean girls dancing around to the theme song of Bubble Bobble.  I have to admit, the girls are pretty cute… I guess they are worthy of my beloved Bubble Bobble theme song.  What are they trying to advertise anyways?

Who can relate to this song?

It looks like apologizing on Leno and his blog was not enough to stop the public from ridiculing Kanye about his outburst on the VMA.  Even President Obama thinks he’s a jackass!

Check out the comments made by President Obama that were not supposed to be released to the public here.

Life in Markham

Having spent most of my childhood and university days growing up in the town of Thornhill, I am accustomed to having quiet, Caucasian neighbors who mind their own business.  Ever since my parents decided to down-size the house, I have been living in the town of Markham for the past two years.  I am now fully exposed to having neighbors of Asian decent.  I am ok with the Korean BBQ going on in the summer time.  However, recently I’ve had to put up with this in my neighbor’s backyard!

First, it was cured belly meat and now they are sun-drying salted fish!  When is this going to end!  I don’t want flies in my backyard!

So, this weekend I got engaged. The plan was executed FLAWLESSLY, due to my meticulous planning abilities. When I say FLAWLESS, I really do mean FLAWLESS. The weekend started off by watching an amazing fireworks display over the falls at night. We had the prime location, so it was a rare opportunity to be watching it up close…
