Poutini – House of Poutine

Poutini opened up a few months ago but crazyDiva and I didn’t have to time to try it out until mid december. Located at 1112 Queen Street West, it was a relatively long drive since it is located pretty west. For a place that specialized in poutins, their menu is not as varied as others (like Smoke’s). We only saw the classic poutin and the classic with bacon. It looks like most people are expected to get takeout as their seating is very limited due to the small venue. When I took the first bite, the first thing I noticed was how creamy the gravy was. It was lighter in color but had a rich and creamy texture. Although I prefer my gravy to be not as creamy, it was still good and tasty. I also liked their cheese cruds. It was soft and chewy without any of the annoying rubbery texture. Their fries were similar to New York Fries so it tasted fine. Overall, I would have to say the poutins at Poutini are fairly average. They are certainly better then Smoke’s but is on par with what you can get at New York Fries (with better cheese curds from Poutini). Although I wouldn’t purposely make a trip just to eat there, Poutini is a place I would certainly drop by if I was doing some shopping around Queen Street West. crazyPyxo’s rating for Poutini
