So I announced in an earlier post that crazyDiva and I were going to attend a taping of the performance show of “So You Think You Can Dance Canada”.  Well… we are back and ready to report!

It was interesting to take a behind the scene look at the filming of this week’s episode.  I was surprised at how smoothly the production went.  Even though there were a few “re-takes”, the taping flowed fluidly from beginning to end.  I was impressed by the organization they had in the studio.

crazyDiva’s dream with Daniel

The camera adding 10 pounds is no lie, everyone looked so much better in person then they do on TV.  The host looked more natural and pretty, the female dancers looked much fitter, and the guys were beefier.  You should of seen how much crazyDiva was drooling when she saw Daniel take off his shirt.  The only people who weren’t affected by the real-life to TV transformation were the two permanent judges, Jean-Marc and Tre.  They looked exactly the same.

Many people were holding signs for the various dancers when we arrived at the studio.  We were a little jealous until we found out there was a make-your-own poster station setup in the studio.  CrazyDiva and I quickly came up with a poster proclaiming our love for Melanie M.  I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of our poster, but here’s a replica:

When the taping was over, they gave us a pair of fangs to advertise for “The Vampire Diaries” and a sample of Degree deodorant.

Overall, it was a fun, interesting and tiring experience.  We were standing in the mosh pit and our feet were sore by the end of the 2.5 hours.  It was worth it since watching the dancers perform live on stage was more exciting then watching it from TV.  Hope I can go back again for the taping of the finale!
