After I kept chanting “Hey baby Hey baby Hey!” for the past week, the No Doubt concert has finally arrived to Toronto. Since I ordered the tickets late, only the $100 “limited view” seats were left. It was defined “limited view” because it was facing directly to the side of the stage. Despite that fact, I still had an excellent view and was able to clearly see Gwen Stefani and her amazing abs.

Tickets to awesomeness!

With a big smile on my face, I packed up my DSLR along with a huge lens in hopes of taking some hi-resolution pictures to post here. Unfortunately, it got confiscated at the entrance and I was left camera-less… luckily, my friend Jason was able to bring his Point and Shoot and he ended up with a few good shots. Next time, I will have to devise a better method to sneak in my camera.

There were two opening acts: Bedouin Soundclash and Paramore. We arrived late and missed Bedouin Soundclash but were able to catch Paramore. Paramore was on the stage in what seems like an eternity. Their first song (That’s what you get) was good but by the third, I was already starting to lose attention… Then they went on to perform 6-8 more songs afterward which bored me to hell (their total stage time was around an hour).

Then came the megaton that is No Doubt. From the moment they walked on the stage to the moment the left, everyone was standing up and flinging their arms in the air. If anyone knows how to work the crowd, it would have to be Gwen. She has more energy then the energizer bunny; jumping, dancing, singing, screaming and hollering the entire show.

No Doubt’s awesome stage!

I love the part where she grabbed a fan and showcased the “No Doubt” tattoo he had on his arm (lucky him, he even got to take a picture with Gwen on the stage). She invited another fan who had lyrics to a song that was not apart of the show (must be a really old song since she forgot the lyrics), she got him on stage to hold up the lyrics while she sung half of it (after mentioning that the lyrics weren’t even correct and that he must of got it from the internet)! The fan was even able to dance with Gwen and sing a bit of the song… it was pure fun. He was really taking advantage of the opportunity because he must of gave Gwen at least 5 hugs during the minute or two he was on the stage.

Now for the show. The singing was PERFECT… it was as perfect as the CD tracks. The song selection was AMAZING… all their major hits and the best of the best from No Doubt’s amazing library (especially LOVED the “Don’t Speak” performance). The stage was COOL… a cool twisting platform complete with fancy flashing lights that heightened the energy even more. The performance was ROCKING… the band completely mesmerized everyone on their feet.

I thought Gwen’s solo concert was good the last time she came, but this concert completely blew it away. Like a good movie, I completely lost track of time. The band made the 1.5 hours seem like 2 minutes. Thanks No Doubt for an extremely fun night, it’s what all the fans expected plus more! The concert deserves more then a perfect score!
